Core Web Vitals are Google’s user-experience measurements for how quickly a web page becomes useful, how promptly it responds to a visitor, and how stable the layout remains while it loads. Common causes include images without defined dimensions, banners that load after the page content, custom fonts that change text sizing, and embedded tools such as maps, reviews, or scheduling widgets. These elements can still be used. They simply need to be planned and implemented so the browser reserves the proper space before they arrive.

Core Web Vitals are often discussed as an SEO issue, and they do contribute to Google’s broader page experience assessment. But treating them only as a ranking factor misses the bigger opportunity.

Field data is the most valuable measure because it reflects actual visitor conditions. Lab tests remain useful for diagnosing issues, testing changes, and spotting page elements that delay loading or block interaction.
